During a spare moment most of us will have been in the following situation; sat in front of the internet, staring at Google and wondering what to search for.
StumbleUpon provides a great alternative to the traditional Google search. A combination of social opinions and machine learning provide a collaborative filter to deliver you with interesting content. If you like what you see then you can give it a ‘thumbs up’ and if you don’t then give it a ‘thumbs down’. This all contributes to refining the filter used in providing you and others with content.
Getting started with StumbleUpon couldn’t be simpler, first you will need to register with either your email address or using your Facebook account (this has the added benefit of easily sharing content via Facebook). You can do this by visiting http://www.stumbleupon.com/.
During the registration process you will be asked to specify your interests which will affect the content delivered to you (these can be managed later on).
Once you have registered you can begin to “Stumble!”. This can be done from the StumbleUpon website, by downloading a toolbar for a web browser, or an app for your phone or tablet device.
